Return to Spa Care: Tips & Advice

4 Essentials of Water Testing

1. Test regularly! Check your water chemistry levels after every spa use, as well as a minimum of twice a week regardless of usage.

2. Adjust Total Alkalinity prior to adjusting the pH.

3. Have a professional Drain & Clean to change spa water completely and acid wash the spa shell a minimum of every 3-4 months.

4. Use the appropriate test kit (chlorine or bromine), and ensure that it is not expired before usage.

How to Read Your Test Strip

1. Read the directions on your specific brand of test strip bottle.

2. Store test strip container seperately from spa to ensure purity of litmus.

3. Immerse an individual test strip in your spa water for one second only.

4. Do not shake off droplets!

5. Continue to hold the test strip in a horizontal position for a duruation of at least 15 seconds.

6. Compare the color squares on the test strip with the color squares on the test strip container.

7. Adjust your spa chemicals accordingly.

8. If you are ever unsure of your first reading, get a second opinion and retest again.
